One of the first things families notice on a tour is that parts of our day bring children of different ages together. That's not an accident or a scheduling shortcut — it's one of the most deliberate choices we make.
Every child develops at their own pace and according to their own interests and abilities. Mixed-age grouping recognizes that truth instead of fighting it. During these times, children who are at least one year apart in age share a classroom, guided by teachers specifically trained in mixed-age practice.
For the older children, something wonderful happens: they become the experts. Tying a younger friend's shoe, explaining a game, showing patience while a little one takes a turn — these moments build confidence, empathy, and leadership in a way no worksheet can.
For the younger children, the benefits run the other direction. They absorb more advanced vocabulary, problem-solving approaches, and social skills simply by watching and playing alongside the big kids. Children are often far more persuasive teachers than adults.
Mixed-age settings also accommodate individual differences more gracefully. A child who's ahead in one area and still growing in another isn't 'behind' or 'ahead' — they're just themselves, challenged to think creatively as they watch different children approach the same problem differently.
